EA Ships The Sims House Party Expansion Pack

Add-on Disk to 2000 and 2001's Top-Selling PC Game in Stores Now

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., March 29, 2001 - Electronic Arts (Nasdaq: ERTS) today announced the release of The Sims™ House Party Expansion Pack, a new add-on disk to the top-selling PC game of 2000 and 2001, The Sims. Packed with a variety of fun-filled activities for Sims to take part in, three new architecture and decor styles, more than 100 new items, five fresh music and dance styles and much more, the new expansion pack gives players the chance to host outrageous parties for their Sims.

"Players love to watch their Sims interact, but until now, there were only a few objects that allowed Sims to get together in groups," said Lucy Bradshaw, General Manager of EA's Maxis™ studio. "By allowing Sims to mix and mingle, House Party adds a whole new level of game play to The Sims experience."

Three new architecture styles and more than 100 new objects allow players to hoedown at a country barn dance, chow down at a tropical luau, or go underground at a rave with their Sims. Within each entertaining theme, a festive variety of costumes and décor options are available to add breadth to the bash.

Players can build a dance floor, with optional dance cages, and watch their Sims dance to the rhythm of the DJ's music. A flashy caterer is available for hire to keep the buffet table and punch bowl full. When all else fails, players can roll in a mechanical bull or the popular cake dancers to kick the party into high gear. The House Party Expansion Pack makes it easy for players to throw everything from a small birthday bash to a wild bachelor party.

The Sims' unparalleled success most recently inspired the creation of its first add-on pack, The Sims Livin' Large which shipped in September of 2000. The Sims Livin' Large allows players to put their simulated families from The Sims into extreme situations and settings. To date, The Sims Livin' Large has sold over 700,000 copies in North America.

The Sims, the wildly popular game that allows players to create a neighborhood of simulated people known as "Sims" and control their lives, skyrocketed to the top of the charts when it began shipping to stores in February 2000 and has quickly become a universal gaming and cultural phenomenon. It was the best selling PC game of 2000 according to Reston-based PC Data and to date, and has sold more than 3.4 million copies worldwide.
