We’re happy to reveal the box art for The Sims 3 World Adventures and two new screenshots showing a close call with a fire trap and an angry mummy intent on cursing your Sim in Egypt, one of three locations your Sims can venture to in the game. The Sims 3 World Adventures expansion pack will ship on November 17, 2009 for the PC and MAC.
News got out this week that several people at Maxis were laid off last Wednesday, in order to "focus the business" and to "focus Maxis." While the studio will remain committed to the Spore franchise - with Spore Hero and Spore Hero Arena as main upcoming games - they will have to move on with less people on the team. An EA spokesperson says this is more or less natural fluctuation of a games studio's size, which depends on business conditions. All layoffs are said to have taken place at the Emeryville based headquarters of Maxis.

The official site has changed the homepage of the official Sporepedia a few days ago. The 5 most popular new creatures and 5 other featured creations are shown directly on the homepage, together with a "Contests and Challenges" block. I've been geeking out lately with Doctor Who and Torchwood. I didn't have inspiration to create items in Spore for a long time. But yesterday after watching Doctor Who, I finally got back into Spore and created TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimensions In Space) as a space ship and as a city hall for my first game since I installed Galactic Adventures.
