MaxisKitty (Jan 15, 2004 5:59:54 PM)
Hello and Welcome to The Sims Bustin' Out chat. We have a number of guest speakers today, so I will let each of them introduce themselves! (You may also wish to specify which platform you are refering to when you ask questions in this manner: GAMEBOY: "question to follow")

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:00:08 PM)
Hey Guys! I was the Producer on The Sims Nustin' Out for the GBA! Can't wait to hear your thoughts and questions about the game.

MaxisKitty (Jan 15, 2004 6:00:22 PM)
How Nutty

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 6:00:39 PM)
Hi everyone! I'm Scot Amos, a Senior Producer who just joined the Sims Bustin' Out Console team a couple months ago. Nice to meet you all!

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:01:23 PM)
Hola gang, I'm Mike Perry, the Design Director for The Sims Bustin Out. I was also the designer for the first Sims on console, and I've been working at Maxis for a very long time!

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:02:14 PM)
I'm the guy who shows up on the easel when you paint sometimes. Happy

JoePirateCapn (Jan 15, 2004 6:03:02 PM)
BO:GBA After I move into the clocktower, the guy tells me to unpack fast because he charges weekly. Once I unpacked, I selected the box, and selected return box or something like. Do I have to actually go talk to the guy to return it???

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:03:02 PM)
No, You do not - just make sure all of your stuff is moved out of the box and then you will get an option to give it back

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:03:39 PM)
How long were preperations for making this game?\

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:03:39 PM)
We started working on The Sims Bustin Out almost immediately after we finsihed the first version of The Sims on console. We had so many ideas that we couldnt finish for the first one.

PoofyPie (Jan 15, 2004 6:03:49 PM)
GBA: I have a question. (obviously) For gba, are there any, or will there ba any, cheats for like money?

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:03:49 PM)
No Cheats - you CAN find Hiedi Shadows however twice a week and get some quick cash.

SimsBustinOutRoks (Jan 15, 2004 6:04:16 PM)
GameBoy Advance: How do you get to the easel on that one mission?

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:04:16 PM)
The Easel is in the far cornor of the PARK.

wildmomma2672 (Jan 15, 2004 6:04:36 PM)
First of all the game!!!! It is so cool, but why do we have to have object limits? I hate not being able to build a fence completely around my house.

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 6:04:36 PM)
Thanks! We love the game too! For object limits - we're actually limited by the hardware itself so we can only put a certain amount of "stuff" in the world at one time.

thekid (Jan 15, 2004 6:05:31 PM)
on the sims bustin out for console can two people ride in a vehicle?

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:05:31 PM)
Yes - Two players can ride in a vehice!

Kevinn932 (Jan 15, 2004 6:05:55 PM)
Whats your favorite Job on The Sims Bustin Out on console

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:05:55 PM)
I'm a big fan of the Mad Scientist career, becuase I can unlock Shiny Things Labs right away. I love the using Tesla Coil!

iluvhamtaro (Jan 15, 2004 6:06:36 PM)
GBA: Sweet game, nice work: how do i get to the basement of the spooky shack?

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:06:36 PM)
COOL! I am glad you like it Happy There is a "trap" door on the outside of the house.

SimsBustinOutRoks (Jan 15, 2004 6:06:42 PM)
PS2: I dont have it yet but heard it rocks. Can you interact with your baby like the features in The Sims 2?

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 6:06:42 PM)
Actually, Sims2 has a much different level of interaction with your baby than Bustin' Out does. It's very cool, though we didn't have time to get it into our version.

OoDeStInEyBlUeoO (Jan 15, 2004 6:07:08 PM)
GAMEBOY: Is is possible to unlock the vacation island without linking another GBA with the Sims Bustin' Out in it?

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:07:08 PM)
NO, sorry to say there is not a way to unlock it without liniking with another GBA.

Nilla Waffer (Jan 15, 2004 6:07:51 PM)
Console: Why does mom look so scary? I have never seen a mother that looks like that...

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 6:07:51 PM)
Actually, it's supposed to look like Mom's wearing a facial mask (like a mud plaster). Happy

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:08:09 PM)
Whats different on bustin out from the sims on pc?

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:08:10 PM)
Bustin Out is a totally new game for console, with new level-based gameplay, full 3D graphics, and unlockable objects and levels. unlike the PC version of The Sims, you can actually WIN The Sims Bustin Out.

Nat (Jan 15, 2004 6:09:26 PM)
In sims 2 can we have cars in the game like Bustin' Out?

MaxisLucky (Jan 15, 2004 6:09:26 PM)
This chat isn't about The Sims 2 today. We'll have another chat about The Sims 2 soon, but we'll be deleting any questions about The Sims 2.

PoofyPie (Jan 15, 2004 6:09:36 PM)
Console (in a way): Now, i dont have bustin out console version, but i hear you can drive cars? even stear them and stuff?

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 6:09:36 PM)
Actually, no, you can't drive cars in the PS2,Xbox,or GameCube versions of Bustin' Out. However, you can drive a scooter around on the GBA version!

JoePirateCapn (Jan 15, 2004 6:09:57 PM)
What's the difference between BO for the PS2 and GBA? Are there different goals and missions? Or is it the same?? (I only own it for GBA)

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:09:57 PM)
The Sims for PS2, GAMECUBE, and XBOX have there own set of NPCs and Goals set up for the unique environments. The locations and storyline on the GBA are totally different and are tailored for the hand-held platform. You directly comtro your SIm on the GBA!

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:10:59 PM)
Was there a reason u cant place things under windows and cannot change clothes using a dresser??

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:10:59 PM)
Instead of changing clothes at the dresser, we decided to give players access to the full create-a-sim feature set each time they load their saved game - it gives players a lot more customization possibilities

Playerland40 (Jan 15, 2004 6:11:36 PM)
How did you design and think about the Career Miny-games for the GBA? I thought it was very creative!

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:11:36 PM)
They are fun Happy It is a great challenge to actually have to fullfill your jobs yourself. The GBA lends itself to Mini-games and we wanted to make sure that they fit in with the storyline. We had about 12 in design and we went with the best 8 of those designs.

skppy1225 (Jan 15, 2004 6:12:22 PM)
What was the most fun part of making Bustin' Out?

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:12:22 PM)
WOrking with Mike Perry - Seriously, I have to say it was the team. We have a great group to work with and we really dive into what makes The SIms such an aweosme game.

thekid (Jan 15, 2004 6:12:36 PM)
is it possible for two people to ride on in a vehicle or on the scooter?

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:12:36 PM)
Yes! In 2-player split-screen mode, both players can ride the scooter or any other car at the same time. Try 2-player mode after you;ve unlocked the stretch-limo - 2 Sims riding in a hot tub together!

portia (Jan 15, 2004 6:13:00 PM)
Is the maxis company having some kind of event happening this friday?

MaxisLucky (Jan 15, 2004 6:13:00 PM)
There is an event for The Sims Online. Please visit http://www.thesimsonline.com for details about that.

raye1 (Jan 15, 2004 6:13:38 PM)
why aren't we able to change clothes within the game? Thanks for a great game !

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 6:13:38 PM)
Actually, you are able to change clothes everytime you load your game.

PoofyPie (Jan 15, 2004 6:14:10 PM)
GBA: Earlier you told me heid shadows can get you quick money? Is she the ninja person? and what do you do with her? lol thx and again great game

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:14:10 PM)
Yes! She is the cool Ninja. Once you find her, she acts like a store and you can click on her and buy cheats.

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:14:17 PM)
Hello i am playing the playstation 2 version of the sims bustin out,i loe the game but will you guys play online?

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:14:17 PM)
I go online a lot to see how many ways other people have customized their different locations and characters. Its really amazing how cool each players customizations are!

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:15:20 PM)
Please explain to me what u do in the nude park? ( I forget the official name)

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:15:20 PM)
In Pixel Acres, you have a chance to get Macolm Landgrabb arrested for indecent exposure. You'll get a tidy reward if you can do it!

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:15:47 PM)
Is the secret GC/GBA level just an evil sheme of Nintendo's to get us to buy a GC and a GBA?

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:15:47 PM)
Heck no, It is a great way to cheat! You can hook up your GBA to the NGC and play multilple mini-games getting free Simoleans.

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:16:12 PM)
Is Bustin Out worth buying...in the producers opinion?

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 6:16:12 PM)
Happy Absolutely!

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:16:17 PM)
maxises, whats your fav location?

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:16:17 PM)
Boy, choosing a favorite location is really hard. Because I'm a nerd, I love Shiny Things Labs, but I also love The Octogon, Club Rubb, and Goth Manor.

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:16:22 PM)
In gameboy advanced, wut is your favorite place?

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:16:22 PM)
Fishing off of the Docks.

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:17:17 PM)
why isn't Cassandra in the Goth family in Bustin Out for consoles?

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:17:17 PM)
Ah poor Cassandra. Mortimer should have never experimented with that blasted Incubator.

dwf11 (Jan 15, 2004 6:19:13 PM)
Are there any new objects in Bustin Out?

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 6:19:13 PM)
There are over 100 new objects. Many cool custom items are unlocked at specific locations in Bustin' Out mode.

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:19:25 PM)
I have the GBA vrison of the sims bustin'out I was wondering if you have any tips for geting past misson 5 I can't get past it

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:19:25 PM)
We have a great walk-through up on the website, but here are some tips. You must have a relationship of 60 or higher with Detective Dan. The General Store has the camera and check out Uncle Hayseed's house for CLuse from Vera Vex about teh Van Man's Capture.

thekid (Jan 15, 2004 6:19:43 PM)
will the sims bustin out be on Ngage?

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:19:43 PM)
Yes - We just announce this actually!

PoofyPie (Jan 15, 2004 6:20:19 PM)
How DID you come up with those names for gba? lol- oh yeah- and "Chet. R. Chase" haha very amusing.....

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:20:19 PM)
A ton of alliteration, a little silliness mixed in with a great writer.

Playerland40 (Jan 15, 2004 6:20:27 PM)
What was it like, taking the 2D Computer game in wich you use the keyboard and mouse, to 3D, whole screen view and zooms, and a wide veriety of bottons?

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:20:27 PM)
Stepping up from 2D to 3D was a huge challenge for us. We used a technique from Miyamoto, where we actually did a full working prototype of the game on a real PS2 just to get the controls right. The controls that are in the game right now were actually designed almost 2 years ago!

Sims Freak (Jan 15, 2004 6:20:29 PM)
PS2: Why do kids look oogly??

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 6:20:29 PM)
A face only a mother could love? Not all childeren look the same.

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:21:25 PM)
why did yall make max from toane's gym be so osessed with himself?

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:21:25 PM)
When you look as perfectly fit as Max, wouldn't you be obsessed with yourself too? Wink

SimsBustinOutRoks (Jan 15, 2004 6:21:41 PM)
N GAGE: Will it be like GBA version?

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:21:41 PM)
Yes, it will have the same gameplay only with new objects and more mini-games via a cell phone you will have in-game. Youw ill also be able ot use the BlueTooth technology to hook up to other players for trading.

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:22:00 PM)
when will the sims2 come out?

MaxisLucky (Jan 15, 2004 6:22:00 PM)
No Sims 2 questions today. We'll have another chat about The Sims 2 soon - but we're deleting questions that aren't Sims Bustin' Out related.

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:23:19 PM)
Can you get cars in freeplay mode in Bustin' out?? Please answer.

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:23:19 PM)
Free Street residents are bus-riders only. If you want to unlock a car, you'll need to Bust Out!

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:23:34 PM)
is this chat for game boy or game systems

MaxisKitty (Jan 15, 2004 6:23:34 PM)
both!

ChicoRocks (Jan 15, 2004 6:23:51 PM)
i have a question for PS2---when i moved int Goth Manors house i completed all the goals except ' buy $1000 worth of improvements...and i redid the whole kitchen bought the $1000 stove and fridge, i also redid my guys room and the bathrooms and i haven't completed it yet..so could you tell me what to buy?

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 6:23:51 PM)
Did you sell stuff from the Goth's house to "redecorate" the kitchen? You'll need to spend $1000 of your own money to achieve this goal!

Nat (Jan 15, 2004 6:23:58 PM)
Whats Ngage?

MaxisKitty (Jan 15, 2004 6:23:58 PM)
Noika's handheld gaming platform

skppy1225 (Jan 15, 2004 6:24:04 PM)
Was Bustin' Out the most fun sims game that you worked on?

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:24:04 PM)
Without a doubt, Bustin Out was the most fun game I have ever worked on - as a matter of fact, we're still playing it!

SimsBustinOutRoks (Jan 15, 2004 6:24:58 PM)
GBA: Are there any characters on there that is a based on a PS2/XBOX/GameCube character but with a different name, because Vera Vex reminds me of Bella Goth.

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:24:58 PM)
The main Create A Sim character is a deriviative of Fran from the other consoles and Vera Vex is actually Bella Goth's second step cousin.

JoePirateCapn (Jan 15, 2004 6:25:46 PM)
What is an N GAGE???

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:25:46 PM)
It is Nokia's Handheld gaming/phone/Music platform

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:26:15 PM)
What is the storyline on Bustin Out?

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 6:26:15 PM)
Landgrabb is travelling around town, reposessing everyone's stuff and being a jerk about it. You've got to build your career, make lots of friends and money, and snake Landgrabb's fortune out from underneath him.

Nat (Jan 15, 2004 6:26:54 PM)
Were do you sleep in Club Rubb?-PS2

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:26:54 PM)
Did you notice the small back room with a recliner in it? Those recliners are mightly comfy for a long nap. But dont forget, its The Sims - you can go to build and buy mode and change anything you want any time!

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:27:35 PM)
what was the funnest thing to make in Bustin Out?

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 6:27:35 PM)
The social interactions we're really humorous to make. We shot footage of our animators acting them out for reference. Remember this when watching "pull finger"!

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:27:46 PM)
Does the Xbox version of BO have the online feature?

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:27:46 PM)
Online Weekends are only available on the PS2. The Xbox, however, has fantastic new HDTV graphics modes!

SimGurl912 (Jan 15, 2004 6:27:47 PM)
GBA: why is it so easy for the people you talk to, to like fall in love with you. Im talkin and all of a sudden there is hearts on the screen. I dont want the ugly fisherman to love me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:27:47 PM)
You've got to do a better job of pissin' em off! You most likely have a very close personality type to the fisherman, seriously this effects how quickly you will get a love match inthe game.

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:28:51 PM)
When you're in 2 player mode is the screen split in two or is it like a regular game ?

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:28:51 PM)
In 2-player mode, we have a cool diagonal split screen. When you're playing an online weekend, both players can see the full screen view.

JoePirateCapn (Jan 15, 2004 6:28:53 PM)
If you release The Sims: Bustin' Out on Ngage, won't that increase the amount of automobile accidents? :P Not only will they be talking and driving, they will be driving and playing video games!

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:28:53 PM)
Well as long as they use their headphones - all will be safe, right Wink

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:30:05 PM)
Are the graphics better than the original console game?

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 6:30:05 PM)
Absolutely!

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:30:43 PM)
console- which NPC is your favorite character?

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:30:43 PM)
Wow, that is such a tough choice. I think Fanny Adore is my favorite NPC - she's gorgeous!

Playerland40 (Jan 15, 2004 6:30:52 PM)
how long will this chat last?

MaxisKitty (Jan 15, 2004 6:30:52 PM)
till 4pm PST

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:31:26 PM)
hey when is bustin out coming out

MaxisKitty (Jan 15, 2004 6:31:26 PM)

qwertyuiop2004 (Jan 15, 2004 6:31:32 PM)
Is get free a social interaction or is that only at pixel acres?

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:31:32 PM)
Yes, you can only "get free" at Pixel Acres. And its a great place to do so, if I dont say so myself.

skppy1225 (Jan 15, 2004 6:32:35 PM)
GC: Is there still a monkey butler?

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:32:35 PM)
Alas, there are some... remains... of the Monkey Butler at Shiny Things Labs. However, an interesting primate robotic devices is being used at The Octagon. I would talk to General Payne.

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:33:57 PM)
console- is there a friends cheat or a better way to keep your friends then having to keep seeing them every 10 minutes?

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 6:33:57 PM)
Build up your social a little higher than you need it. That way you can afford to leave them alone for a while. But remember, Sims are social creatures.

scooby_dooby_doo03 (Jan 15, 2004 6:34:42 PM)
Thanks for the new music downloads I really think you guys did an outstanding job on music lol

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:34:42 PM)
Thanks, we did a lot of original music for The Sims Bustin Out. I love the heavy metal radio station. "Fredashay" is my favorite song.

SimGurl912 (Jan 15, 2004 6:34:58 PM)
GBA: ive never found Heidi Shadows yet. Is there a certain place you can find her.oh and i love the game!!!!!!!its soooo fun!

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:34:58 PM)
You can find her at 3 am in the Park maze on Fridays.

wildmomma2672 (Jan 15, 2004 6:35:08 PM)
LMAO! I wondered what happened to Cassendra! Why is Mortimers hair grey?

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 6:35:08 PM)
Well, mortimer is getting older. And have you seen the ghosts in his house! My hair would be grey too!

JoePirateCapn (Jan 15, 2004 6:35:27 PM)
Wait. Landgrabb is familiar... The Landgrabb mall in downtown! Is that named after him??

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:35:27 PM)
Malcolm Landgrabb has managed to appear in many places since he left SimCity. Watch out.

guitargal (Jan 15, 2004 6:36:23 PM)
Who's your're fave NPC on the GBA fame?

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:36:23 PM)
Nicki Knack for sure - then I would have to say that Dusty Hogg is a close second.

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:37:01 PM)
what gave you the ideas for the interactions in the game?

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 6:37:01 PM)
We wanted fun interactions. Careers and locations influenced the decision also. But mostly, we acted them out and picked the best ones.

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:37:13 PM)
Why is Malcolm wasting his time coming to my sim's parties when he should be stealing furniture from people's houses?

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:37:13 PM)
Malcolm is a "man about town", who likes a nice social now and then. But then again, dont we all? If I were you, I would try to chum him up while he's there - you never know when you might see him again.

Simmy2Sky (Jan 15, 2004 6:38:21 PM)
LISTEN, are you planning on making another sim console game?

MaxisLucky (Jan 15, 2004 6:38:21 PM)
We aren't giving away any of our secrets today.... bwahahahahaha......

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:38:26 PM)
Would you say that those who created the sims bustin out if kinda like a community with everyone knowin everyone?

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 6:38:26 PM)
Yes, the team is very close.

+!~SimisterPPPP (Jan 15, 2004 6:38:39 PM)
in The Sim's Bustin' Out, i've heard you may drive a ar, and visit clubs. is this true?

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:38:39 PM)
Yes, in The Sims Bustin Out, you can unlock 10 new vehicles, from a scooter, to a european sports car, to a stretch limo with a hot tub in the back. And you can drive them all to party at Club Rubb!

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:39:00 PM)
Are you a penguin?

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:39:01 PM)
Not Today, I chose the Tiger suit in Create-A-Sim today.

crazysimplayer (Jan 15, 2004 6:39:08 PM)
i thought having the thunder roll while ur at the Goths Manor was very cool...who thought of that idea?

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 6:39:08 PM)
Mike Perry.

thesimsfan (Jan 15, 2004 6:39:55 PM)
is this chat about the sims bustin´out for console or for game boy advance?

MaxisKitty (Jan 15, 2004 6:39:55 PM)

Mommy (Jan 15, 2004 6:40:21 PM)
Is there a way(besides sleep) to increase a sim's energy? My son's sims keep falling asleep.

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:40:21 PM)
Yes, keep a coffee pot or espresso machine in the house - they're great for quick enegry boosts. And take a look at the Bug Zapper - a quick zap might be a little uncomfortable, but it sure peps up a Sim!

joeyzbaby (Jan 15, 2004 6:40:30 PM)
i had an item to deliver to guiseppe mezzoalto but before i could get to him, he was sent to jail. since then, i have not been able to get rid of the item, further, i have not been able to do any deliveries to other ppl to earn money. any suggestion?

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:40:30 PM)
You should be able to do other deliveries, but unfortuneatly you are stuff with Mezzoalto's item in your inventory.

Flying_dutchman102 (Jan 15, 2004 6:40:42 PM)
What is the best part of Bustin Out?

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 6:40:42 PM)
There are so many to chose from. If I HAD to chose one, I'd choose the rocket gnome party.

CheerChick2493 (Jan 15, 2004 6:40:45 PM)
I'm confused.....What IS the Sims Budtin out?

MaxisKitty (Jan 15, 2004 6:40:45 PM)
Its the name we give to the Sim games on GBA, XBOX, PS2 and Gamecube

Mel (Jan 15, 2004 6:42:12 PM)
is there more lots on the GameCube version for free play or are there only 3?

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:42:12 PM)
Nope, there are only three - BUT - you can download your SIm ontot eh GBA and have 20 additional locations for your Sim to explore.

KewlKittenKat67 (Jan 15, 2004 6:42:45 PM)
XB: Who is Nicku Knack? and Dusty Hogg? i've never heard of them.

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:42:45 PM)
These guys are only on the GBA.

hunny6 (Jan 15, 2004 6:43:07 PM)
In the sims bustin out why does the game start out with u having a dream? please answer!

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:43:07 PM)
Ah yes, dreams of the club life, the perfect date, great music, and fresh drinks. Mom awakens me from those dreams every time. Darn.

Kiko_Lake (Jan 15, 2004 6:44:15 PM)
I have GBA Bustin Out and is the Volci Rooster any where at a certain time?

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:44:15 PM)
Once you past Mission 2, the Veloci Rooster will be found outside the Hospital on the front right corner.

Simmy2Sky (Jan 15, 2004 6:44:33 PM)
Do you know that if your sim dives on the diving board and there's water below them, they hit the ground and die??

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:44:33 PM)
What? You removed the pool from under the diving board! That sounds VERY dangerous. Almost as dangerous as feeding an Incubator plant too much garbage!

Playerland40 (Jan 15, 2004 6:44:54 PM)
I love the Tinsle Bluff house! The balcony, its amazing! What was it like creating that Simcity view? It looks fabulouse!

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 6:44:54 PM)
Thanks! Our artists really enjoyed pushing the visual limits of new locations with great vistas like that one. They had fun trying lots of different views for that area and chose their favorite for the final game.

BustinOutChickadee (Jan 15, 2004 6:46:06 PM)
MikeP, what's your favorite thing about Bustin' Out? I haven't played it yet, but I really want to buy it.

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:46:06 PM)
My favorite thing about Bustin Out is how big the game is - there are 7 different career paths, hundreds of new objects and socials, and 13 new locations to unlock, in addition to a full freeplay mode. You can play this game forever!

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:46:08 PM)
what do you think the best item is in the sims bustin out for gba

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:46:08 PM)
The Scooter for sure, then the Boxing RIng.

MaxisKitty (Jan 15, 2004 6:46:09 PM)
Fifteen Minutes left

qwertyuiop2004 (Jan 15, 2004 6:47:02 PM)
You guys made the fires look a lot better in this game they look much more realistic.

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 6:47:02 PM)
Thanks! The art staff is very proud of how much they pushed the look of Bustin' Out.

thekid (Jan 15, 2004 6:47:30 PM)
GBA:where is the ghost?

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:47:30 PM)
You can find him at the Haunted Shack, you get there from the Steam Tunnels.

Mommy (Jan 15, 2004 6:48:18 PM)
My son wants to why it's so hard to keep sim's moods green in Bustin Out.

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:48:18 PM)
Try making a Sim with a different personality - Sims who are not very outgoing dont need to socialize with other Sims as much, and Sims that are really active dont need to sleep as much.

BustinOutChickadee (Jan 15, 2004 6:48:54 PM)
How much longer will the chat last?

MaxisLucky (Jan 15, 2004 6:48:54 PM)
We've got about another 10 minutes. This chat ends at 4 pm PST.

guitargal (Jan 15, 2004 6:49:23 PM)
Why did my venus fly trap plant eat me? I was very disappointed in it.

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:49:23 PM)
Even the venus Fly trap needs some love...make sure you water it and then keep your distance, you obviosuly do not have the skills to handle it yet.

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:49:39 PM)
PS2: How long did it take to make the playstation 2 version.

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:49:39 PM)
It took us almost a full year to make The Sims Bustin Out for PS2.

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:50:17 PM)
Can you sleep at Pixel Acres?

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:50:17 PM)
Yes, there are some great new "Tent Beds" ready for you to use at Pixel Acres.

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:51:06 PM)
Can Sims your sims die if they do not know how to swim

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:51:06 PM)
Only if they are hungry - knowing how to swim is a natural skill for our Sims.

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:51:16 PM)
console: In casa caliente- my sim has to score with two sims at a party- she tried with Bing and Chase but they say they have headaches? How do I get past that?

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:51:16 PM)
Make sure you are throwing a great party before you try and score. And make some fresh food, and put on some smooth tunes!

Playerland40 (Jan 15, 2004 6:52:24 PM)
i love the new music in Bustin' Out! Its sooooooo cool!

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:52:24 PM)
Thanks! The Smooth Jazz station really cracks me up - too funny!

llskmk (Jan 15, 2004 6:52:30 PM)
how long did it take you to play and finish the game.

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:52:30 PM)
I am still not finished without all of the cheats on Happy

I Cant Find Gissepi ANYWHERE AT ANY TIME Any Hints?

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:53:46 PM)
He hangs by his Van which appears behind the Pizza Shack near the Docks.

qwertyuiop2004 (Jan 15, 2004 6:54:11 PM)
I have the first sims for GC and BO for Xbox and i used picture in picture on my tv and wow i noticed huge graphical diffs at first they were as noticeable but when compared its huge and i didnt think the zoom was diff either but its so much closer its hard to beleive how much improvements you guys made in about 11 months

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:54:11 PM)
Thanks, we really wanted to zoom in a lot closer this year because the graphics are so much better.

joeyzbaby (Jan 15, 2004 6:54:48 PM)
is there sims busting out strategy guide? if there is, i would love to buy one!!

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:54:49 PM)
Yes - There is a guide available in most stores you can find the game. You can also find walk-throughs on The Maxis Website and FAQs.

Scrambled1 (Jan 15, 2004 6:55:08 PM)
What do you think was the biggest change from going from the sims on the PC to the sims on the ps2?

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:55:08 PM)
Adding levels and unlockable rewards really makes The Sims Bustin Out a whole new game compared to the PC version. I love the fact that you can actually finish the game and win!

ihaveathemesong (Jan 15, 2004 6:55:45 PM)
I Can't Find Gissepi ANYWHERE At ANY TIME Any Tips?

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:55:45 PM)
Once you have met him once, you can call him on the phone to find out where he is at anytime.

Luvy_duvy191 (Jan 15, 2004 6:56:35 PM)
You seem to post your answers to our questions but you dont post the question. It gets very anoying because we dont know what your talking abut... :(\

MaxisKitty (Jan 15, 2004 6:56:35 PM)
try resizing your window... otherwise you can check the transcripts after the event.

Guest (Jan 15, 2004 6:56:39 PM)
why weren't the people at pixel acres pixelated when i visited?

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:56:40 PM)
There is a special "outdoor shower" at Pixel Acres that some Sims find quite... pixelating.

pinkangeld33 (Jan 15, 2004 6:56:48 PM)
GBA: for one of the missions where u find the ghost where can can u find the ghostly gift and what do u do with it?

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:56:48 PM)
The Ghostly Gift can be found in hte Steam Tunnels - you pick it up and put it in your inventory and then take it to his Haunted Mansion - which you get to via the Steam Tunnels.

Is the Sims Bustin Out for PS2??

MaxisKitty (Jan 15, 2004 6:57:41 PM)
yes

kool_guy_100 (Jan 15, 2004 6:57:52 PM)
Which console do you think BO performs the best on,or has the most features?

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:57:52 PM)
Each console has a unique cool special feature. on PS2, you can have an Online Weekend. On GameCube, you can connect to a GBA to download your Sim and play mini games. And Xbox has full HDTV support.

JoePirateCapn (Jan 15, 2004 6:58:35 PM)
GBA i got arrested for wetting my self in the park on accident. Where is my scooter??

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 6:58:36 PM)
You can find the scooter on the Map - hit start to get to your map screen. Yea - Don't pee in public, there is a chance you will go to jail.

Kaitlin (Jan 15, 2004 6:59:45 PM)
how do i get the gnome rocket things im clueless about this party thing

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 6:59:45 PM)
Build up your mechanical skills first. If you visit Shiny Things Labs before moving there, you can gain mechanical skill very quickly with the Tesla Coil.

JoePirateCapn (Jan 15, 2004 7:00:10 PM)
GBA: I finshed all the goals on the 2nd tab. But it shows nothing for tab 3. What am I supposed to do?

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 7:00:10 PM)
You need to go back and talk with teh NPC that opened the goals for you. Try Det. Dan, Uncle Hayseed, or Dusty Hogg.

Playerland40 (Jan 15, 2004 7:01:14 PM)
Just like the Tinsle Bluff house, I like the view from Pixle acres! That river, the forest.... Sigh...

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 7:01:14 PM)
Did you notice the low fog hovering behind Goth Manor? And the lovely beach at Casa Caliente... ah yes...

Flying_dutchman102 (Jan 15, 2004 7:01:47 PM)
GBA:is there a freeplay mode?

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 7:01:47 PM)
Once you unlock the whole world, you can play the game in Free-Play mode without finishing all of the Missions. Once you do finish all of the Missions however, you do have to start from Mission One with a new Sim.

SmartFreak735 (Jan 15, 2004 7:01:55 PM)
How is the Sims Bustin out different from the other console game The Sims.

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 7:01:55 PM)
The Sims Bustin Out is a full sequel to The Sims on the console. All new graphics, levels, and hundreds of new unlockables!

MaxisKitty (Jan 15, 2004 7:01:58 PM)
That wraps up todays chat about The Sims Bustin' (out as Virg would say Nutsin') Out. We hope you guys had as much fun as we did! Be sure to look for the transcripts up on thesims.com sometime after the event. See you on thesims Busin' Out BBS!

MaxisMikeP (Jan 15, 2004 7:02:36 PM)
Thanks everyone, this was a lot of fun today! I hope to see you all in an Online Weekend!

MaxisTheVirg (Jan 15, 2004 7:02:54 PM)
Bye Guys - It was fun as usual, thanks for the great compliments and get up on the boards if you have any other questions. (I think I am going to change my cat suit now)

MaxisScotchmo (Jan 15, 2004 7:02:54 PM)
Thanks everyone for coming - it was AWESOME getting to see what everyone wanted to know and what you all loved about the game.
